Book review – “Lovely Trigger” by RK Lilley – story of redemption and second chances

In the third book of the series, Tristan and Danika adjust to life without each other thinking that’s for the best until fate steps in and has their paths cross again. Tristan wants a second chance, but can Danika forgive him for the things that he’s done in the past?

The book spans of 6 years after the accident. We get to see Tristan make a complete 180 from the worst version of himself that we saw at the end of the second book. He broke a lot hearts (not just Danika) after making us fall in love with him during the first book and first part of the second book. He had a lot of redeeming to, not Danika but to us fans. Lilley did a great job showing the change in Tristan and how love saved him from himself.

The jumping around part is a little boring at times, but necessary for the story. For me, I was just wanting them to get back together so bad, I would get mad that I had to wait so long. But in hind sight, it’s probably best that I did. It would be a little unbelievable if Danika just took him back after what happened. He was going to have to prove himself to her and she needed to forgive him.

The sexual tension between Danika and Tristan explodes about a third of the way into the book and it’s like fireworks. Tristan certainly didn’t think it would take that long. While we knew they would get together at some point, Lilley did an amazing job at slowly having Danika and Tristan get back together. We got to watch them fall back in love with one another.

The sex scenes between them were explosive, certainly more then the other two books. When they finally get back together, you can feel the angst and tension between the two characters. This is definitely a book that you shouldn’t read in public because there a few scenes where you will be fanning yourself and maybe even blushing a little bit.

The epilogue of Danika and Tristan is a beautiful ending for their story that has a lot of ugly moments in it. The scars run deep but their love healed all their wounds from their past. Seeing the way that Danika and Tristan come to terms with what happened in their past and how they didn’t let their second chance at a happy ever after slip away.
